Five years after her last participation, Demi Vollering returns to the Giro to complete the “Triple Crown” and claim her 4th Grand Tour victory. The European champion will headline a stacked GC field. Elisa Longo Borghini, winner of the last two editions, endured a difficult spring due to illness but specifically targeted this Giro and will fight to defend her title. Runner-up in 2025, Marlen Reusser is once again among the main contenders, alongside Anna van der Breggen, four-time winner of the race and fresh off second place at La Vuelta. After finishing 5th and 6th in the past two years, Antonia Niedermaier is eager to take another step forward given her form shown at Itzulia. Lidl-Trek will rely on a two leaders with Niamh Fisher-Black and the young Isabella Holmgren, 7th last year. Visma | LAB will also field two cards: Femke de Vries will target a top 5, suppoted by Marion Bunel, coming off her breakthrough podium at La Vuelta and already victorious atop Colle delle Finestre at Tour de l’Avenir. Among the outsiders are Trinca Colonel and the AG Insurance trio Žigart, De Schepper and Benito. Keep an eye also on the world champion Magdeleine Vallieres who might try to go for the GC.
