The stage featured a two-rider breakaway by S. Gutiérrez and V. Joncheray, who were reabsorbed about ten kilometers before the start of the Coll de la Creueta (21.2km at 5%). On the climb, Vuelta winner and home rider Paula Blasi launched an attack with 15km to go, and nobody could match her pace! She then began her solo move toward the finish line to take her sixth victory of the season!
