🇨🇵 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2026 | Stage 1: ⛰️ Lausanne - Lausanne (138 km)
The big day has finally arrived! Early this afternoon, the 2026 TDFF kicked off from Switzerland with an undulating stage, ending on a 2.6 km climb at 4.6%. The breakaway of the day took off shortly after the start with four riders: Océane Mahé, Idoia Eraso, Nikola Nosková, and Maud Rijnbeek, who built a maximum lead of around 6' over the pack. The young French rider Mahé (Ma Petite Entreprise), stood out claiming the first two QOMs of the day to take the polka-dot jersey.
In the peloton, marred by crashes involving Pieterse, Bäckstedt, and Schweinberger among the others, a high tempo on Côte de Villars-le-Comte split the group and sparked an attack by Riejanne Markus. Sprinters like Kool, Consonni, and Bossuyt were dropped, with Koch also struggling while Holmgren and Lippert were delayed by mechanicals. Once Markus was caught, Amanda Spratt launched her own move in pursuit of the break. On the final QOM Nosková powered away solo, while several riders managed to come back into the peloton.
With 17 km to go, powered by Spratt's pace, Eraso and Rijnbeek caught back up to Nosková, keeping the quartet at the front until 6km from the finish. AG Insurance set a high tempo on the lower slopes of the final climb before a crash involving Paternoster and Włodarczyk split the peloton. With 600m to go, Vollering launched a sharp acceleration, followed closely by Le Court and Longo Borghini, with Wiebes also managing to hang on. EF worked hard to close the gap, with Kerbaol pulling for Rüegg winner of La Vuelta's opening stage on a very similar finish. Kerbaol led out her teammate, but with 200m to go, Lorena Wiebes opened up her sprint and proved simply unstoppable! Despite the uphill finish, Wiebes dominated the charge to claim her 6th Tour stage win! Kim Le Court took 2nd place, with Demi Vollering rounding out the podium in 3rd. Pieterse and Rüegg completed the top 5.
