🇫🇷 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift
⛰ Stage 6: Montbrison - Tournon-sur-Rhône (153.4 km)
With 128km remaining, the first breakaway of the day takes shape, featuring three riders: L. Adegeest, N. Noskková, and K. Aalerud. The peloton allows them to build a gap while keeping a steady tempo. However, after the Côte d'Aurec, on a section of false flat, van der Breggen appears to be in trouble and indeed drops from the bunch.
The breakaway is reabsorbed along the descent leading into the Col de Lalouvesc. That subsequent downhill proves to be the launching pad for a six-rider attack initiated by Gery, followed by Longo Borghini, van Dam, Lippert, Kerbaol, and Pieterse. In the peloton, Canyon-SRAM puts Niedermaier on the front to try to close the gap, which hovers at just under 30 seconds. Yet their advantage holds firm over the final QOM of Côte de Boucieu-le-Roi.
From the yellow jersey group, R. Markus and Le Court launch a counter-attack; after a few kilometers of chasing, they bridge across to the front. With just under 5km to go, the Mauritian national champion tries to power away solo, but she is caught a few kilometers later.
Tactics take over in the final kilometers, with R. Markus attempting to launch an early move before the flamme rouge. However, Le Court shuts down the gap and opens a long sprint from 250 meters out. Pieterse and Gery look poised to come around her, but Kim Le Court Pienaar holds her line and secures her second career stage victory at the Tour de France Femmes! Cédrine Kerbaol finishes second, while Puck Pieterse completes the podium in third. The yellow jersey group crosses the line 28 seconds behind.
