The 2026 Road Worlds ended yesterday and itโs finally time to draw some conclusions. In addition to the medal table, we also compiled a placing table (borrowed from track & field), where each top-10 placing gives points (10-9-8โฆ) to the nations, offering a more accurate picture of the depth of each movement.
After two editions without leading the women's medal table (surrendering to GBR in 2024 and ESP in 2025), the Netherlands return to the summit after Volleringโs triumph in the queen race. Joining them at the top is a rising Poland, no longer relying only on Niewiadoma. Conversely, Spain takes a step back, supported solely by Neira also due to Blasi's unfortunate crash.
In the placing table, Belgium surprisingly leads the way, propelled by the youth categories. Despite missing out on gold, they collected three medals (the highest tally) and an impressive seven top-ten finishes, all achieved by different riders. Switzerland follows, led by the podium efforts of Reusser and Grossmann alongside a standout performance from Winter, ahead of the Netherlands, who drop two positions in this classification compared to their leading displays over the past two years.
