MTB World Series Lake Placid: Frei Wins XCO as Rissveds Clinches Overall Title

Alessia Frei won the XCO at the MTB World Series Lake Placid round, with Jenny Rissveds second to clinch the season-long MTB World Series overall title.

The MTB World Series made its ninth stop of the season in Lake Placid, New York, with the women's XCC and XCO races delivering the final twists in this year's overall title fight.

In Saturday's XCC short track, Laura Berta took the win ahead of Jenny Rissveds and Alessia Frei, but it was Sunday's XCO cross-country race that mattered most for the series standings.

FINISHING ORDER - XCO, Lake Placid:
1. Alessia Frei (SUI)
2. Laura Berta (ITA)
3. Samantha Maxwell (USA)

Frei's win in the cross-country was not enough to deny Jenny Rissveds the overall crown: with her consistency across the season, Rissveds clinched the 2026 MTB World Series overall title, while Frei's strong finish secured her the season-long XCC short track title.

The result caps a season-long duel between the two riders, who traded wins across the series calendar, with the final round in Lake Placid deciding both of the year's major prizes between them.
