Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio has announced her retirement from professional cycling, bringing to a close one of the longest and most respected careers in the modern women's peloton.

The South African climber built her reputation over more than a decade as one of the sport's most durable Grand Tour performers, a rider who could consistently be found animating the hardest mountain stages of the Giro d'Italia Donne and the Tour de France Femmes. Beyond her palmares, Moolman-Pasio became known as a voice for the sport itself, an advocate for improving conditions and opportunities in women's cycling throughout her career.

In a message to fans and followers, Moolman-Pasio reflected on a career that took her from her early days racing in South Africa to the top level of the WorldTour, thanking teammates, staff and family for their support across the years.

Tributes poured in from across the peloton following the announcement, with riders and teams paying respect to a career defined as much by consistency and courage on the road as by her contribution to growing the sport off it.
