The World Championships week in Montreal has finally gotten underway with the Elite Women's time trial, the longest in history at nearly 40 km. Marlen Reusser stormed into the lead over the final 10 km, passing Vollering on the road and crossing the line 40 seconds faster than Backstedt, with a final time of 50'24" (46.7 km/h) to secure her second consecutive ITT World Title. Bronze went to Koch, 5 seconds behind Backstedt. Longo Borghini took 4th at 50" and Kerbaol completed the top five, 1'10" down.
